100th post
April 24th, 2008
Here it is the 100th post. It’s a nice tradition in this crafty blog world to have some sort of contest or giveaway on occasions like these. And even though I’m crap at responding to comments, they really do push me to do more and better things. This sewing book is a great example . A year ago I would have thought up this idea, but probably never got around to making it, and then proceed to mope around because I never do the things I say I will. No more! And it’s all because of you. So the sewing book pictured above is yours (sans supplies) if you win. Just leave a comment on this post–a joke, a recipe, a book recommendation, the name of your dog, whatever–and Monday I will pick a winner (by random). If you’ve never left a comment before, go ahead and do so. Click on the comments and write your email in the space provided (no one can see it but me) and if you don’t have a website just leave that space blank. There are more pictures of the book on my flickr site if you’d like to see.
Because I’m almost up to 1000 comments (it’s at 984 right now) there will be a secret prize for the 1000th commenter! Good luck! And I’ll see you on Monday.
I just read this book – it is great: http://seemownay.blogsome.com/2008/04/23/the-time-travelers-wife-audrey-niffenegger/
and watched this movie (into the wild http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0758758/)- sad but great, too.
Hey, where did my comment go?
OK: the book recommendation: the time traveler’s wife

Woo hoo–the give away tradition is a great one in this crafty world and I hope to make it to my 100th post too! I think it is perfect that your gift is a version of the post that led me to your blog the first time. (And I adore the fabric that reminds me of old pillows and mattresses!)
Congratulations on your blog making it to such a milestone.
Congratulations! I look forward to continue reading your blog :-)
SO cool! Congrats on your 100th post – I’ll have mine soon too… maybe another month or so, and I’ve got to come up with something to give away! I love the idea of a sewing supply kit – not the purse-type! Cute!
Congrats on your 100th post. I may get there oneday.
‘Dirt Music’ by Tim Winton is a fantastic read, my dog was named Tip, I love peanut butter and honey on grain toast and I don’t always have sugar in my tea.
The sewing book is gorgeous! I tripped in here from a comment on design sponge looking for the origami mobile swap — how happy I am to find this.
Dog’s full name is Lulu Tarnation Noh (she doesn’t listen very well).
Congratulations!
Congratulations! I remember my hundredth … feels like just the other day … and now I’m slowly eaking towards 200 :)
Thanks for having the mobile swap … it was the most fun I’ve had in AGES. I’m constantly thinking of mobile ideas (but yeah, need to actually MAKE them … college takes up too much time) … can’t wait for the next one (maybe a sewn one?) …
Stays in bed till half past nine……it’s good to get up in the morning when the morning lasts till noon (and you know the rest)!
Hiya , I am not entering but I wanted to say your gorgeous elephant is in the top 5 over on softies central – That is so good, I knew you’d be shortlisted. I am off to vote right now !
Nice!
Count me in with this: I have two chickens both named Mrs. Wozniak.
you would like a joke?? this was sent to me by my happy (aka dad). it’s irish with colourful language with an irish accent but i think it is really funny…
Two Irishmen walk into a pet shop in Dingle, they walk over to the bird section and Gerry says to Paddy, “Dat’s dem.”
The owner comes over and asks if he can help them.
“Yeah, we’ll take four of dem dere little budgies in dat cage up dere,” says Gerry.
The owner puts the budgies in a cardboard box.
Paddy and Gerry pay for the birds, leave the shop and get into Gerry’s truck to drive to the top of the Connor Pass.
At the Connor Pass, Gerry looks down at the 1000 foot drop and says, “Dis looks like a grand place.”
He takes two birds out of the box, puts one on each shoulder and jumps off the cliff.
Paddy watches as the budgies fly off and Gerry falls all the way to the bottom, killing himself stone dead.
Looking down at the remains of his best pal, Paddy shakes his head and says, “Fook dat. Dis budgie jumping is too fook’n dangerous for me!”
THERE’S MORE…
Moment’s later; Seamus arrives up at ConnorPass.
He’s been to the pet shop too and walks up to the edge of the cliff carrying another cardboard box in one hand and a shotgun in the other.
“Hi, Paddy, watch dis,” Seamus says.
He takes a parrot from the box and lets him fly free.
He then throws himself over the edge of the cliff with the gun.
Paddy watches as half way down, Seamus takes the gun and shoots the parrot.
Seamus continues to plummet down and down until he hits the bottom and breaks every bone in his body.
Paddy shakes his head and says, “And I’m never trying dat parrotshooting either!”
IT IS NOT OVER YET…
Paddy is just getting over the shock of losing two friends when Sean appears.
He’s also been to the pet shop and is carrying a cardboard box out of which he pulls a chicken.
Sean then takes the chicken by its legs and hurls himself off the cliff and disappears down and down until he hits a rock and breaks his spine.
Once more Paddy shakes his head.
“Fook dat, lads. First dere was Gerry with his budgie jumping, den Seamus parrotshooting… And now Sean and his fook’n hengliding!”
I don’t remember exactly how I found your blog, but I like to pop in for enjoyment and inspiration. I LOVED the first sew kit and would flip to win this one. Here are the first four lines from one of my favorite poems, Robert Wrigley’s “Explanatory” : The hackberry tree, a static of twigs and branches so densely woven sparrows went flitless there, but hopped instead, stob to stob, and disappeared like names, dates, and faces in an ordinary mind.
hi,
I just recently found your blog and am really enjoying it. I live near Madison and LOVE dig & save. :)
A good book I just finished happens to be by another near-Madisonian, Jacquelyn Mitchard…The Breakdown Lane.
Congrats on 100!

hi, wow 100 posts. that is amazing. at least for someone like me – just started my blog – and i haven’t even made it to 20 posts. there just seem soooo many other wonderful things to do. anyway i love giveaways – well who doesn’t. unfortunatelly i never remember jokes. the recipe i would want to give you is definatelly too long for here. the book recommendation would be the autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi(that’s what i’m reading at the moment). very impressing. and i don’t have a dog – sorry no name. take care and good luck for the next 100 posts, erika
I love it! Love your blog too!
I tryed to follow you on twitter but I cant find your name.
