toy piano

I did get to the thrift store while I was away and I couldn’t believe how jam packed with stuff it was. Turns out my town is full of thrift store scavengers (competition) so the pickins is usually slim. I think this piano was actually there last time I visited my family (umm, thanksgiving?) but I passed it by. But really can you pass on a vintage, wooden toy piano for $20 two times? It sound very much like a toy piano–pling, plong–but I kind of like it.
I was thinking I should get a little more organized when it comes to my sewing. I’ve got so many projects that I would like to start and so many that really need to be done and I want to do all of it at once, so I end up staring at fabric or making piles or cleaning up and then it’s time for bed and nothing has been made. So inspired by some lovely ladies, I thought I’d try to have a goal each week: making a garment each night of the week (like amanda) or just posing a creative challenge (like fede). I’d like to do this all summer, but really I think I’ll just start with the next month and see how it goes. I think it will make me focus a bit better. This week is just about organzing and getting ready, but I’ll be back next week to post the theme or goal or whatever. If you’d like to join me with your own weekly goals, please do, we’ll get even more done that way I’m sure.
Great Idea. I recently started a craft at work challenge. We embroider for two lunchtimes during the week. My goal will be to keep that up (forgot my needle yesterday). See…hopeless already.
I’m much the same…I can spend ages tidying up, daydreaming about what I would like to make…checking on which fabrics match up.
The goal setting sounds great. I will be interested to see your challenges.

i love this challenge, i’m in. if i don’t have time to finish something in one sitting i usually don’t finish the garment/project until the child has outgrown the started garment. i also love looking at my beautiful fabrics and sometimes cannot bring myself to cut into them because i cannot decide exactly what to use them on and once i use the fabric it will be used and gone. o.k. so i guess my goal will be to sew and complete two projects a week. only two because i work a few nights a week. i will post my finished projects on my blog throught june.

Oh my – now you have a wooden play stove AND a wooden toy piano?

The piano is lovely and I especially like the little chair.
I definitely need a craft brute squad or cheer leading squad. I am currently haunted by a growing mass of half-completed muslin mock-ups and a notebook full of ideas that simply must be created. I was also thinking along the lines of outlining realistic weekly goals for myself. I think posting these will help motivate me and keep me honest. But first, like you, I need a plan. Off to get that started…
I had to chuckle a little bit when I read the last paragraph – It sounds just like me. One other thing I do is I know I want to start a project I saw on the internet but never printed or saved the project. LOL so know I have to to my computer and do a search in my Google Reader and then I end up sidetracked to other blogs and links never getting to where I intended until it is way to late in the day.
I will definitely try the goals thing with you.

The perfect find…it photographs beautifully. I have been on a sewing hiatus for about a year, I stare at my fabric piles often.
The piano looks very sweet. And I hear you on the unfinished projects. I keep buying sewing books and fabric though. Maybe that will magically make things move forward (maybe not, though).

You find the most amazing things!! I can absolutely sympathise with your staring at the fabric & tidying the workroom, hence my colour challenge. The good new is…it’s working for me….I’m much more disciplined & productive. I’m sure it will work for you too :)

the thrift store I visit is infested with antique dealers, I swear one of them lives there, I see him every time, makes it hard to find good items like your piano
