Having a blog is sort of ridiculous. It starts off as a little place to show off the lovely things we’ve made for ourselves, but becomes a demanding little blog you have to make things for. I enjoy making things for the pleasure of it, but I also love making things–tutorials and patterns–that I think you will like. I need to define a bit more what I’d like elsie marley to be and I need your help with that. I’m slowly (and with much help) redesigning this little blog and I’d love to know what you think of it, where you think it should go, and what you would like to see more of here.
If you have a minute I would love it if you could answer a little survey for me. It is 7 questions that will help me know you a teeny bit better (hello lurkers out there) and know where you think the blog should go. It is such a pleasure to have lovely readers like you! Without you I would be sitting here talking to myself and that would be silly, because you are much more interesting to talk to.

I just filled out your survey. I struggle with some of the same questions you’ve voiced. I was drawn to your blog by photos and projects, I’ve continued to subscribe because I felt like I get to know you better and like you. I hope others feel the same way about me.
funny. i was just recently wondering what sort of long-term plans/goals you have for this space. i filled out the survey, but also wanted to say here that i love elsie marley and look forward to seeing what’s next from you, meg. though i do hope it’s not too different from the elsie marley i already know and love!

I completed the survey as well, but I would like to offer this: blog what you love. It’s kind and thoughtful to be in tune with your readers, but ultimately it’s what you love that your readers will enjoy most. I look forward to seeing what you do with this space, but be sure to keep it your own as well. I do love my visits here.
I’m wondering why you feel the need for change. I like you just the way you are. How corny does that sound? It’s true though. Thanks for not blogging daily about crap just to get crap out there. I can’t remember how I found your blog but I distinctly remember laughing when I read about the blog title. I loved the Elsie Marley version in Richard Scarry’s Best Mother Goose Ever. I still have my original book from childhood and can picture lazy Elsie Marley pictured as swine.
Yeah, I am with Sascha. I love you just the way you are too–I mean, your blog. But I also understand the desire to ask the questions–as I ask myself the same dang questions about monthly…and these little blogs can be pretty demanding but I also cannot imagine being without mine…I say do what you love, share what you love, and your blog will shine. Now I will go fill out the survey.

I’m with the other commenters. You’ve got a loyal following (well of me at least), and blogging what you enjoy at a frequency that you’re happy with the post quality, and people (well, me at least) will keep coming back. (But I also enjoy giving my opinion and love filling out a survey!)
Just wanted to let you know that I tried to do your survey but it didn’t work. It gave me an “Oops” error.
I tried to take the survey but something went wrong at survey monkey so I was not able to finish it. I agree with everyone here. You have a great blog. I check in on it quite regularly because it helps to inspire me. I guess we all have times when we want to make sure that we are not straying or losing sight, but your vision is quite clear so keep at it. I look forward to more of your great posts.

Hi! I just stopped over here, and I love your blog. I’ve marked a couple of things I’d like to try or that are giving me ideas. I took the survey, and was wondering if sometime in the future if I could use a few of your questions for my own blog? It might be far in the future, and I will change some of the questions to make my own, but I wanted to ask anyway. I’m now adding you to my list of blogs to read! Thanks for posting!
