kcwc fall 2011: day five
October 14th, 2011
These are a little over the top to be sure. But so are four year old boys. The patterns is from Happy Homemade vol. 5 modified it a bit, okay a lot. I stole the pocket pattern from a different project in the book and I threw piping in all over the place. The back pockets are my favorite.
I also totally wussed out on the zipper fly and just make a fake fly, that got all janky anyway. Being afraid of putting in a zipper is ridiculous, I mean a zipper isn’t going to kill me or anything. Whatever, here they are: crazy ass orange tight pants with bright blue piping.
He rocked them.
And here are today’s highlights from the flickr group (they are all a little muted today, maybe the rain is affecting me):
only two more days to go!
Oh. My. Gosh. I love those pants! They are freaking fabulous!! Love the colour and the piping! Thanks for the inspiration!
those pants could not possibly be any more fantastic! awesome :)
oh! these pants really remind me of the style of team zissou…good work!
I still fight the fear of the zipper!
I love these pants! Very summerysunnydaypetermax4thofjuly! One of my favorite combos. :)
Zippers on tiny little boy jeans are the worst! I’ve fought a few in the last year before deciding to revert to a faux front since my 4 year old still can’t handle the button and zipper anyway. I think you made a good call.
Hurray for orange! That’s my project color too. No worries, the under 10 set can rock it…
You NEED to start designing boys’ pants. Yours are the best bar none. So stealing your idea!!!
I am freakin obsessed with these pants. Love. Want. Need.
those pants are so freakin cool. Could I make them for 7 year old too?
YES! I would actually wear them too. :)
Spiffy.
Like others who commented here my reactions to those pants included loads of use of the word ‘freakin’! In the best possible way! LOVE!
My four year has just said they’re ‘awesome!’ so I guess my next outing will be to search for orange fabric. I use Simplicity 9651 (from the 70s!) but have adapted to omit the fly, add some pockets and have a flat panel across the front. I’m hoping to just keep adding length to the pattern for a few years as Mr4 is quite slim. I do need to learn to do pockets properly though – I’m doing to the lazy way of stitching them to the front.
I LOVE those orange pants. Perfect with the blue kicks.
(The pants remind me of a phase that my little brother went through when we were kids- he would only wear orange pants. Bright orange- and my mom made them all! For a couple years!)
LOVE those pants! Oh my goodness, the piping really makes them!
These orange pants could possibly be my favouritest item of clothing I have seen you make!!! And that’s saying something as you make some kick-ass stuff :)
