STYLO
May 14th, 2014
Stylo is a new eMagazine that focuses on modern children’s sewing patterns and fashion. It’s produced by Celina of Petit a Petit and Family and Jess of the Sewing Rabbit–two women I’ve had the privilege to meet and work with many times. They are stylish in their own right, so it’s no surprise their magazine is super stylish too. And I had the good luck to be in their second issue!
They gave 6 designers one fabric and gave us free rein to sew what we liked. This fabric stumped me. It’s very bold and graphic, mostly aqua with flashes of hot pink and coral. I almost went whole hog and made a suit for my 7-year-old. In the end I thought the print was better suited (ha!) to a soft toy. I pulled out my pattern for the diggers I used to make.
It had been ages since I had made one, or made any toy for that matter. Soft toys were all I used to sew–do you remember? Have you been with me that long? Anyway, the digger turned out so well I actually started putting the pattern together for real, like even for sale. It will be a few weeks until it’s ready for testers, but I do need a few (four maybe?). Leave a comment if you’re interested.
Don’t forget to check out Stylo and see what the 5 other ladies did with this fabric–and all the other blow-your-socks-off sewing that’s in this issue!
I would love to be a tester for your pattern! I have two little ones who love diggers so they would be thrilled.
I remember your diggers! It thought they were so clever! And that was before my mama days. I’ve thought about them every once and a while, hoping that you’d start making them again. I’d love to help test the pattern and I’m sure my 3.5year old digger expert will be excited too. He loves “supervising” my sewing projects.
i do remember when that’s what you did! i wish i had the time to test for you because i have a couple of nephews who would love that digger. maybe another time!
I would love to be tester. My chick would love to have a new vehicle in her fleet.
i remember your diggers too!! i could probably test for you in june/july and i know O would love one. :)
So cute! I’d love to be a tester for this pattern–and my kids would love it too :)
So excited to check out this issue of Stylo. All the preview images are looking awesome!
I would love to be a tester! My four-year-old is a serious fan of diggers. I could test pretty much whenever…
I am a haphazard blogger, at best, but I would love to test your digger pattern! When you have noticed heaps of page views on your archived posts about diggers and thought, “what the hell?”. That was me. ;).
I would love to test this pattern! My four year old son is obsessed with diggers….pretty much anything construction. We are planning his big boy room around this theme and a stuffed digger would be a perfect addition! I even have the perfect fabric in my stash :)
With a 2 year old nephew diggin trucks of all types (heh!), I would enjoy testing. I am quite at the beginner stages of sewing so would make a good test subject
Blast from the past! I had forgotten you used to make these until I saw that picture. I completely love them.
The thing is…having spent hours, days, weeks watching construction sites with toddlers…the bucket is on backwards!! I notice it’s hinged on buttons. Can the bucket be turned around and still “function” for play?
yes the bucket can be moved up and down to scoop and dump!
A soft toy digger? I’d totally be up to test this one. My son is 16mts old and loves everything that has wheels! A digger to cuddle would be the best thing for him!
And btw.: I loved your pics in the magazine. Was fun to have something different…
That is a beautiful toy – love the colors and the boldness! I would love to test the pattern as well. My 8 month nephew would totally “dig it”!
You guys are the best! I think I’ve got plenty of testers. Thanks so much!
I know I am late to the game here, but I would love to test for you too. I have two little girls who stand on the porch all day watching tractors going up and down the road. I’ve never made a toy and would love to try something new. :) Please.
Would love to test if you need another!
I would love to test your pattern–and I live in Madison ;)
What fabric is that awesome print? I know it’s Michael Miller but what’s the name?
I know you have a lot of testers already, but I would love to test this pattern if you could use one more. Whenever I ask my son what he would like me to sew for him, he suggests some sort of construction vehicle… and all I can say is… what about a teddy bear? a hat? maybe some new pajamas? he would LOVE this!
Little Giant would love one! I would love to test it for you!
