bags
March 26th, 2008
I making bags like crazy over here. All, of course, for the sale that you are sick of hearing about. It’s this weekend and I’m actually getting a little nervous. I’m sure all the self doubt will all go away when someone buys something–if someone buys something! I’m used to selling pastries and breads and chocolates that I’ve made, where if you make a mistake it gets eaten anyway. But someone will own these bags and use them, and if they fall apart their mother will be cursing me. Or maybe they will be used and loved and come out of the washing machine in one piece.
You can see I finally made the toy bags I was talking about and though I wasn’t excited about them while I was making them, or even after I was done, but they are growing on me now. Simple muslin drawstring bags with some applique (and stamped labels? yes? no? still can’t decide anything over here). The other bags in the picture are kiddy messenger bags. I made one for my daughter just like it for christmas. She got so many compliments on it, I thought they would go over well at the sale. There are pictures of more bags over at my flickr site, if you are interested. Have a good day.
Those are so great, Meg!! I just got that same cityscape fabric, but in a lime green. I can’t wait to see all your wares this weekend. They’re all so great! Why don’t you take a minute to stop, pat yourself on the back, and revel in how much you’ve cranked out and how GREAT it is? Wow.
the bags are wonderful! i have no doubt that you will have fun at the sale, and your creations will find great homes!

The bags are awesome! You will have no problem selling those! They look terrific and you did a nice job on them. :) Good luck!
Wow, you did many great things! I bet the sale will be a great success for you. You will do great! Good luck!
All of your bags are gorgeous – I love those little messenger bags! I’m sure people at the sale will love them…and hopefully buy them all too!
xx
Great bags, I guess I wouldn’t put on a label saying laundry bag or toy bag because that way they can be used for whatevr takes peoples fancy.
let us know the sale goes. You will sell heaps for sure.

thank you! thank you! you guys are always so nice and supportive. I’m thinking about stamping “my blocks” or “my trains” on the bags (that’s what I meant), but there is a lot more to do, so I might just blow it off. I think they are fine either way (yes?).
I don’t think you have anything to worry about…these bags and your other items are precious and I’m sure well-sewn. I have to say, however, you mention pastries and chocolate? Quite a difficult decision in trying to determine the finer art.
Fabulous. I like just the image on the bag. says it all.
I’m a bag lady. I’d be buying. Good luck
Just wanted to let you know I think you are so very talented! I gave a shout out to you and your designs on my blog, directing people to your etsy shop. Thanks for the eye candy!
Just found your site via that Half Pint Sale site. Will you be set up for the early hours of the consignors sale tomorrow? I would love to get some of your items, either the kiddie messenger bag or the pillowcase dress for my dress obsessed 4 year old. Thanks.
Hey, lady! Your stuff is going to be awesome! You’ll be a hit. And just think about how GREAT your etsy site will be with any left-over creations (and how lucky all of your blog-friends will be to buy them, if they get the chance!!)
And I hope you noticed, that you are the featured picture in our local paper today in an article about the sale! http://www.madison.com/tct/news/stories/278924
