happy homemade sew-along: the hoodie!
June 24th, 2014
Ta Da! Finally, the hoodie is finished! And she even likes it! You can see lots more happy kids in their happy homemade hoodies in the flickr group.
I know you’ve seen most of it, but it seems strange not to show you the finished product. Here it is in all it’s polka dot glory!
The pattern only goes up to a size 8, but I sized it up to a 10 for my daughter. It fits just right, but that means it will only fit this summer. If the fabric had any stretch at all, it would fit for longer. Oh well.
I made some modifications to the hood, but sadly, she looks like a conehead when the hood it up. The hood is just weird and needs to be completely redrafted. It looks nice when it’s down though. ha!
The fabric works really well for summer. It has a little weight to it, but it’s still light enough for hot days. Perfect for going to the pool! A few people have asked what the fabric is and I’m not completely sure. I got it from Joann’s and it’s twill-like.
I ended up omitting the kangaroo pocket I made. I had to eek it out of the tiny bit of fabric I had left, so the polka dots didn’t match. Normally that wouldn’t be a big deal, but the un-matching polka dots were making my eyes bleed.
Still, I’m calling this sew-along a huge success! There are tons of beautiful, homemade hoodies in the flickr group. I had a great time and I hope you did too! We’ll be back tomorrow with a round-up of all the hoodies you made and the winner of the giveaway too!
