kcwc: day three
September 22nd, 2010
Sorry, little behind schedule today because I went out with my wonderful husband to celebrate our anniversary last night, but I’m up an caffeinated now, and the winners of the big butt baby pants and the toddler back pack patterns have been announced!
Sometimes you don’t need anything fancy you just need a plain old pair of pants. These are made with some nice, heavy wide wale corduroy and I used the same pattern as these shorts I made, only longer. Of course they are too long and too big all over really, but the boy grows like a weed, so they might fit at the end of the winter. Still, he loves them (hence all the wrinkles) and now says gray is his favorite color–wonder who he got that from?
For today’s giveaway Liesl from Oliver + S has kindly offered their new Music Box Jumper pattern! I think everyone who sews children’s clothes is crazy for Oliver + S patterns. And how could you not be? They are beautifully designed, well written, and come with their own paper doll! The purl bee recently showed off a version of the Music Box Jumper in corduroy (liberty corduroy!) and it couldn’t be more perfect.
To enter the giveaway today, I’d love it if you tell us something about an Oliver + S project you’ve worked on or a story you have about working with patterns or even what has caught your eye in the flickr group so far. Good Luck!

I am comment 151 and I bet 150 comments before mine have praised the Lazy days skirt pattern. My girl loves it!

Haven’t worked with one of these yet (too expensive!). But I love that they have clothes for boys too.
I’ve seen lots and lots of cute Oliver+S things in the Flickr pool! The purlbee liberty version of the jumper is just gorgeous, too.
I love how all O+S patterns are classic and so cute! Love, love, love the jump rope dress!
I just finished up the Ice Cream dress and I am in love with Oliver + S! It is the first piece of clothing I’ve sewn for my daughter! Thanks for the giveaway!
I have sewn two Bubble Dresses in corduroy for winter, for my 2yr old twin girls and a Jump Rope Dress for my 8yr old daughter. All of them fit beautifully. I really enjoyed making them all.
I made my cherubs (2 of them) birthday party dresses for their respective birthdays. Love love love oliver and s!
I am very new to garment sewing (been quilting along). I would like to give Oliver + S a try.
Ohh how I love these patterns – everything is so thought through; the colours, the look, the style. Makes me want to know a bunch of kids I could make clothes to.
I am currently working on 2 Jump Rope Dresses by Oliver + S, for my daughter. I love how the directions are written! The patterns are so cute!!! I hope I win!
The Oliver & S patterns are just what I’m searching for – especially the jumper style pattern! I’ve not come across them here in the UK, but like all you crafty Mummies, I just adore making my own stuff for my little girl. And I’ve got the perfect piece of printed needle cord to do it… choc brown base with retro print flowers & birds in gelato colours. I will be sure to try the Ice Cream and Bubble Dress too!
I have not tried an oliver + S pattern yet, but really want to! the flickr group has so many beautiful things… I especially love that apron on page one right now :)
I love the vintage style of Oliver + S patterns…I have two that I am working on right now (playdate my absolute favorite and birthday party). I have a pile full of vintage calico’s that I can’t wait to make into playdate dresses. LOVE Oliver + S.

We want our girls to look like little girls and this pattern would be perfect
for me to try. I am expanding my pattern collection and not wanting to give up. My first dress came out so big it didn’t fit her till a whole year later! Lol. Live. Laugh. Learn
I have made bedtime story pajamas and a tea party playsuit for my boys. With a girl on the way, I got the bubble dress pattern, hopefully to be made for christmas. I would love to add this pattern to the list of things to make for her!
I haven’t used a Oliver + S pattern, but have been wishing I had one for a while. This one is lovely. I often draw patterns from books or make them off of clothes the boys already have as I don’t have a store accessible. (I could order online, but I tend to have an idea and want it to happen sooner than later).
I haven’t used any of their patterns before, but I love them. Growing up my mom taught me to always cut everything out with pinking shears so my fabric wouldn’t fray. They always hurt my hands. I was so happy when I found a pinking shears blade for my rotary cutter.
I haven´t used their patterns before as i am reaaly a beginning sewster. At the moment I only sew straight lines, think I need to get over the sewing machine fear. I really like O+S as they are reaaly beautiful patterns and I am hearing they are easy to follow!

I am a beginner sewer but I keep an eye on so many wonderful sewing blogs. You are such an inspiration! I would love to try this Oliver + S pattern. I see so many people rave about them! I hope I am a winner and can start right away!
I love the patched jeans!!! Planning to replicate for my little guy!!! espmax@gmail.com
So far, I have yet to try one of their patterns, but I’m dying to! I’d love to win this pattern to give it a shot for my baby girl!
The only Oliver + S pattern I have used is the Popover dress and I loved it….kinda went through a popover dress frenzy:) Not only was it cute, but it was free over at Sew Mama Sew! I have been wanting to purchase the Music Box Jumper, maybe I will win it:)
I’m definitely a sucker for their patterns and have made a couple versions of their playsuit/tea party sundress. Their instructions are amazing and I love their attention to detail. Plus, their packaging is just so darn cute!
Ooh! I’ve really been wanting to try an Oliver + S pattern!
