kids clothes week challenge: fall 2010

After the resounding sucess of last spring’s kids clothes week challenge there was a call to have another when the temperatures cooled off a bit and I am glad to oblige. The challenge will stay the same:
For one hour each day the week of September 20-26 work on making clothes for kids.
I’m going to soup it up a bit with a giveaway or two and maybe even a tutorial (if my camera is fixed by then). Mostly, though, it should be just like last time with scads of people sewing like crazy for their kids. If you didn’t participate last time or are on the fence this time, imagine what it would be like to have 200 people cheering you on and well, that’s what it felt like in the spring. Just by working a little each day for one week you could have a beautiful winter coat made or all the christmas pajamas done or finally made something from that cute fabric you have been saving. Doesn’t that sound awesome?
I think most of us focused on sewing (and all the pattern tracing, fabric cutting, pinning, hemming and ironing that go with it) in the spring, but I don’t see why knitting and crocheting can’t count–though they are much slower going, so you can’t really be sure you will have a finished product at the end of the week, but then again, maybe the sewers can’t either! Warmer clothes can be a little more involved, but really pants are just long shorts–and I know you can make shorts. There was a fine showing of fall fashions from the southern hemisphere last time, so no whining that fall clothes take too long.

Only just found this so can I join in please all be it a bit late.
I’m in. I made a pair of pants last week, the sewing machine is still up. I can make some pants and a dress. I KNOW I can.
I’m in-but I am slow with pictures-so they will all be at the end LOL!
I have so many projects waiting, and this challenge is just the thing I need to get me going on them!
I am a day late finding out about this but I have a kids clothes project that I started yesterday, so I guess it works.
I’m in! A day late, but wouldn’t you know I spent a couple of hours working on a denim skirt for my daughter last night, so looks like I’m off to a good start.
Thanks! Now I have an excuse to skip doing the dishes and sew sew sew! :)

Good opportunity to work on diapers for my grandson and his deer sweater!
Hooray! This lands during my fall break so I can participate! Hopefully I can knock out that “to do” list.
I’m playing! I haven’t blogged or taken pics yet but yesterday I spent ages working on a beautiful piece of AUGH I HATE THIS THROW IT IN THE TRASH, IT IS BEYOND RECOVERY. So then I made a messenger bag for my daughter for her first day of preschool today instead. We’ll see what happens today. Hopefully no more growling and garbage-filling.
I did it! I started and finished a pillowcase dress for one of my daughters. I’ve done 3 total…but one is my fave so far. (I’m a beginner).. :)
I like them both- the backpack and the pants! But I think i would find the backpack more useful….just because I already kniw how to make pants and would love to learn how to make a backpack. I made Jacob two hats and a pair of overalls. I just have to sew buttons on the overalls then they’ll be complete.

I had my sewing spurt late in the summer, but I’ll definitely try again. I have four to sew for, so an hour a day will hardly be enough, but I’ll give it my best shot!

I just found your blog, and I’m in!! Have been knitting a cardie for Spring Birthday girl, more than 1 hour a day for a few days. Also planning on a frock, with very specific instructions.
