summer journal: last days of summer

September 5th, 2012

Wow, August really got away from me. I’m sorry I didn’t check in here more often! The month was just crammed full of summer:

swimming

swimming whenever and wherever we could,

lemonade and tattoo stand

having our first lemonade (and tattoo!) stand,

playing games

playing games on too hot days (games mama made!),

riding rollercoasters

and riding roller coasters for the first time!

How was your summer? Over too fast? Too ridiculously hot? Busy? Lazy? I want to hear from all of you! I’ve missed being here and I’m glad to be back.

Excellent, a month crammed full of summer. Love the first pictures. And great to have you back.

Our summer was pretty great. It was too hot and that got in the way of a lot of stuff we wanted to do, but the joy of being homeschoolers is that we can just do that stuff later.

Our summer was all the above -over too fast – where did it go???
Too ridiculously hot- ugh really hot. our grass turned brown and all the corn around us died :( boo
Busy – dance classes, carnivals, library, etc. busy busy busy
Lazy- movies, tv, computer time. ah. laziness.

    it was a great summer!

  4. Peggy says:

Our summer was far too hot as well… broke records for heat & drought but our pool felt great!
first ever roller coaster ride… check (at 13 and it was a huge wooden one! loved it!)
band camps, tennis camp, missions trip, library, shopping, day trips interspersed with days of lounging by the pool, reading books in the sun (teenage boys), movies, video games… all the while i worked on projects, lots of projects, too many not finished projects! ha ha!

Yay, glad you’re back! You were missed. Glad you had a good summer; ours flew by for sure, and was full of more travel than is typical for us, but it was all good stuff. Good luck with back to school!

  7. So glad you are back (i may have checked more than i’m willing to admit!) Looks like you guys had a great summer! We did too, totally flew by, filled with lots of bike rides, beers in the back yard with family, and Sundays at the farmers market! Looking forward to seeing what you guys are up to for fall!

  8. Just a quick hello to say thank you for all of your inspiration! I’m celebrating my first year of blogging this month, and wanted to let you know I mentioned your blog… I have really enjoyed following you… and crafting along with you… Jennifer

Ahhh Summer. Fun, but I realized I love the school year. And of course this is the first year in many that all three are in school. Of course baby only gets two days a week. Wahhhh. That’s me crying not baby. Whomever decided that two day a week preschool makes sense clearly didn’t have children. I look forward to some sewing and can I say it? Baking?!? Wait… You say, she bakes? And I say, most certainly I do not bake, but I shall try.

  10. Danny says:

Laughing at the tattoo stand, great idea. I hope the kids were using the washable variety. :p

  11. Ana says:

Summer went way too fast! Your pictures are really evocative of the last tidbits of summer fun. Thank you for sharing them!

  12. Becky says:

    Love the tattoo stand!
Our summer was way too short. It always is. We had lots of water time – beach, lake, bay, beach, river and of course the pool when we had to stay home.

  13. Liz says:

    Meg,
These pictures are ‘awesome’. You have matured as a photographer.

  14. hello hello! summer is designed for losing track of time. I know I sure did. missed ya ;-)

owen is always trying to figure out how to expand the monetization of a lemonade stand. tattoos are an excellent start.

  15. Erin says:

Yay, you’re back! Our summer was more low-key, getting used to have 3 little ones… Hard to take ’em all to the pool! Lots of outdoor crafts (thanks for the chalk paint idea!), and a little beach time…. Looking forward to some fall sewing and some DIY house projects. :)

  16. haha! tattoo stand- too funny! I think I would have to stop… going to look at that game!

  17. Carla says:

  18. Caila says:

Ours was busy, lazy, ridiculously hot, AND over too fast! Now my oldest is in Kindergarten of all things! Where does the time go?? I love summer but am glad to be back on a normal schedule. Glad to see you back again, too! :)

It was a strange Summer here. Way too hot to do all the things we normally like to do. We did get to the beach and managed to get one camping trip in but … it was strange, and hot and way too short (as always).
