zakka style
February 21st, 2012
Rashida (of I heart Linen fame) contacted me a long while back to see if I would contribute to her new book, Zakka Style. Of course I said yes! I remade this project, so I could fix the pattern and change the colors a bit. I never did get around to making and selling these pocket pillowcases, but yay for my laziness because now you can make them!
The pattern really is quite easy and makes for a lovely gift. The diamonds are fiddly, I won’t lie, but you could skip them and sew any sort of patchwork your heart desires. The whole book is filled with simple and clever little things to make. And they are designed by some of my favorite people: Holly, Amanda, Leslie, and a good deal more.
I actually made two projects for the book, but the second one didn’t make the cut. Remember this towel I made? Well, I reworked that project as well: a little bigger, nicer patchwork, and in linen. This continuous towel doesn’t fit in my bathroom and though it does look kind of nice in my kitchen, I think it would look better in yours.
That’s right, a little giveaway for this Tuesday: Zakka Style and a zakka stylish linen towel. To enter yourselves in this giveaway, I would like it if you’d answer a question for me. How do you read blogs? Do you use google reader, links from facebook, twitter, flickr, pinterest, old fashioned bookmarks, something else entirely? I want elsie marley to be easily accessible to all of you, which is easier if I know how you are all accessing it :)
psst: if the answer is facebook, well wouldn’t you know elsie marley’s got a facebook page.
Ok so leave your answer before Thursday Feb. 23 at 9am and I’ll let the robots do the picking. This giveaway is open to all my lovely readers, no matter where you live. Good luck!
The giveaway is closed!
Through google reader. I used to use bookmarks, but I had too many to follow easily. I like everything in one place.
Congrats on the book feature. Very nice.
I’ve been eyeing that book for a few months!
I use Google Reader to read most blogs although I use Facebook a little too. Pinterest is used as a bookmark to “stash” posts and projects.
Ooh, that book looks great! I use Google Reader, and appreciate the bloggers who allow full text to appear there.
It’s Google Reader for me (usually on my home pc, but occasionally on my iphone)
And I’d love to win the book and the towel. Love those colors!
I use Google reader most of the time. I’m still struggling with how to comment easily from my iPad, but I’m sure that’ll come one of these days.
Love that towel.
I wish you could comment from within google reader–on any device!
I also use Google reader, I like to have it all at the same place, and this way, I don’t miss any post!
Thank you for the chance to win!
Beautiful looking book :-)
I follow you both on facebook and through email updates (every few days I get an email from you about your latest fantastic creation! But since you’ve recently added your page on facebook, the email arrives after the facebook page is updated so its just duplicated!)
Gillian, thank you so much! This is just the kind of thing I’d never know–but need to!
Congratulations on your project in the book – its super cute one!
I read my blogs through my google reader that I can access on my iphone and on my desktop.
Thanks for sharing
I too use Google Reader.
Thanks for this opportunity!!
I prefer to read in my Google reader. Actually, I prefer when the entire post appears in my Google reader. If I have to click over to finish reading, I get annoyed and I’m just as likely to skip the post rather than click over to the site. That being said, I often DO end up at the site anyway because I want to comment or look at something more closely.
Wow, I didn’t realize there were so many options. I read my blogs with google reader.
I always use google reader. Much preferred. Congrats on contributing to a book. How cool. thanks for the giveaway.
I use Google Reader. Love it. And would love this book and towel!
Hi Meg! I have yet to make time to set-up the reader thing, so Facebook is the best way for me to keep track of new postings. I’ve got this book in my shopping cart – congratulations on your inclusion. I love the spirited things you make.
I use google reader.
The book and towel look beautiful. I read through Google reader, but I’m going to like on FB as well, now that I know you’re there :)
Lovely. I click over when I see updated posts on the blogroll on my own blog roll. I have some blogs of friends in my reader, but I prefer visiting the site for lovely layouts like yours.
what a fun little book. I use Google Reader.
I read everything in google reader, deleted facebook due to all the security loopholes but I used to follow there too. I use pinterest mostly for myself, but I occasionally look at other people’s pins too :)
This book is already in my wishlist on Amazon… it seems so cute, and your post confirm this idea!
For the question: I find Google Reader very useful. And of course, I usually loose myself from link to link
Bye
Daria
I added that to my Amazon wishlist just last week! It looks so lovely :)
I read blogs in Google Reader, pick up fun links through Twitter and use Pinterest and Evernote to make notes of things I like. One thing I really like is when a whole post shows up in my feed reader, not just a header – I skim my list, but seeing the whole post means I know whether or not I want to click through to read it properly!
This book looks like so much fun!
I use google reader, it makes it so much easier.
i read blogs from my blog roll…
and love finding new ones through my favorite’s and also pinterest.
I use Google reader mostly. Sometimes I will see something pop up on FB first before I see it on my reader but lately I have been hiding all my pages/businesses etc on FB so then I will only get them through my reader. I am actually giving up my reader for Lent so I will be quite behind when Easter arrives! (so please email me if I win since I won’t be able to go to your blog! )
i love the ideas in this book – they look so simple and fun! i use google reader almost exclusively (no fb, no twitter) – but also love flickr. i pin what i think i’ll want to try later – but i try not to follow too many pinners – it can get overwhelming to see too much! thanks for a chance on the book and towel!
