zakka style
February 21st, 2012
Rashida (of I heart Linen fame) contacted me a long while back to see if I would contribute to her new book, Zakka Style. Of course I said yes! I remade this project, so I could fix the pattern and change the colors a bit. I never did get around to making and selling these pocket pillowcases, but yay for my laziness because now you can make them!
The pattern really is quite easy and makes for a lovely gift. The diamonds are fiddly, I won’t lie, but you could skip them and sew any sort of patchwork your heart desires. The whole book is filled with simple and clever little things to make. And they are designed by some of my favorite people: Holly, Amanda, Leslie, and a good deal more.
I actually made two projects for the book, but the second one didn’t make the cut. Remember this towel I made? Well, I reworked that project as well: a little bigger, nicer patchwork, and in linen. This continuous towel doesn’t fit in my bathroom and though it does look kind of nice in my kitchen, I think it would look better in yours.
That’s right, a little giveaway for this Tuesday: Zakka Style and a zakka stylish linen towel. To enter yourselves in this giveaway, I would like it if you’d answer a question for me. How do you read blogs? Do you use google reader, links from facebook, twitter, flickr, pinterest, old fashioned bookmarks, something else entirely? I want elsie marley to be easily accessible to all of you, which is easier if I know how you are all accessing it :)
psst: if the answer is facebook, well wouldn’t you know elsie marley’s got a facebook page.
Ok so leave your answer before Thursday Feb. 23 at 9am and I’ll let the robots do the picking. This giveaway is open to all my lovely readers, no matter where you live. Good luck!
The giveaway is closed!
Google Reader. Every morning I get to catch up on my favorite bloggers and get new ideas!
I click from my own blog roll when I see there is a new post. Lovely book :)
I use Google Reader
i heard about your website from my sister after i found myself the owner of my great auntie’s old sewing machine. what inspirational reading!
google reader and facebook are my go-to’s. I also have a bigger list of favorites bookmarked but those are only for the extra-luxurious days when I have time to browse (i.e., never.)
Would love to throw my hat in the ring for the book and towel!
I tend to follow using google/blogger and the others I read via obsessively checking on a daily basis from my blogroll. Awesome giveaway btw!
I read by using the “Next” button from Google reader on my window toolbar (I found out how to do it on another blog). I like using the “Next” button because it allows me to actually visit the website, which is good for blog traffic, and I get the whole post and whatnot. It also always shows the most recent post, which can kind of suck when I am backed up on reading, but whatever.
Lovely Projects!
I use feedly to follow blogs, tumblr and pinterest. And I use facebook too.
I use Google Reader. I’ve also added a few blogs to Facebook.
I read blogs via google reader. Well, kind of. I got mad at google when they took away the share feature in reader, so I actually use feedly to read my google reader posts. And yes, I realize that is ridiculous.
I never really thought of myself as old fashioned, but, yeah, I use bookmarks.
Google reader works great to me, if one day can’t read there is saved the post and star if I want.
Personally, I use my blogger dashboard’s built-in reading list. I used to love the blogroll where I could see eveyone’s latest posts by checking my own site, but its not compatible with the Dynamic Views template.
Congratulations, that is one cute “pillow pet”. My 5 year old has been begging for one like her friends have.
oh well done! this looks like a good one. as far as blog reading, i admit that i used to read them far more frequently than i do now, partly due to the fact that there are so many more blogs and it’s overwhelming and also i’m just busy in life. i almost always link to blog posts via photos that interest me on flickr. there are a few favorites that i check in with directly and then and play catch up but more often than not, my reading is random.
I use google reader through an app on my Windows phone… Gotta say I love my Windows phone. :)
I use google reader, but I se the “next” bookmark let feature so that I can see the blogs on their own webpages. Advertising money is important!o
I do most of my blog reading through Google Reader. If I see a project or idea I like on Pinterest or FB, I’ll check out the whole website… if I like it enough, I’ll add it to the reader so I don’t miss a thing :)
I use bookmarks but I’ve also been enjoying facebook updates from blogs I like, including yours! thanks!
I use Google reader, but with the “Next” button at the top of my browser so I get to visit the actual blog at the same time. What a great giveaway, would love to win! :)
Hi there. I just found you through another blogger skirt as top and made by rae. I really like what you have to create. I get most of my blog info through google reader at home. On my phone I use pulse. Wish I had time to read ALL the blogs i have on my favorite list let alone post on my own blog. I really enjoyed your review of the robes. I have been eyeing that pattern for a while.
I use Old Fashioned bookmarks to read blogs. I have them categorized by subject too!
oh, i’d love this!
i use google reader.
Google Reader (and I follow you on pinterest)
I use the good ol’ internet and bookmarks! I just go down my list each day.
Sometimes I type it in, other times I use my google reader.
