happy homemade sew-along: round up and winner!
June 25th, 2014
WooHoo! We made it to the end of the sew-along! Cherie and I were a little worried at first that no one would come to our party :) But you showed up and wow! you made some beautiful hoodies. I’m going to show you half and Cherie’s got the other half of the handmade hoodies on her blog.
1. gray stripe 2. pink spiders 3. yellow stripe 4. floral 5. yellow
I think when something you sew works out, you want to let out a primal, “Yeeeeeaeaaah!” That little girl up there knows what I mean. These buttery yellow and bubblegum pinks were some of my favorite hoodies.
1.blue button up 2. light blue 3. space print 4. floral + blue 5. blue + green
But these blues were amazing too. I love how this woven hoodie can look like a little version of a man’s shirt, especially in blue. That button up hoodie is upcycled from a man’s collared shirt. What a great idea!
1. red 2. chambray 3. karate chop 4. floral 5. color block
The best part of this sew-along was seeing how one pattern can be so many different things.
1. tinkerbell 2. red stripes 3. chambray 4. kitty 5. pink
Tinkerbell and kitties, stripes and chambray, there were so many amazing versions of this hoodie made last week! Everyone who sewed along got a prize: a finished hoodie! But one lucky duck did get her name pulled out of a hat for some extra prizes. Who was it?
Lucinda who upcycled a men’s shirt to make this fantastic hooded DRESS! Congratulations Lucinda! She will be going home with an amazing prize package:
Thanks so much for following along and maybe even sewing along! You guys are the best!

thanks for hosting, meg! it was super fun to sew along with you two talented ladies. and congrats to lucinda, such a deserving winner!!
Thanks so much for hosting the sewalong! I have my fingers crossed you’ll do another from the book!
thanks heaps for the inspiration and the support. finally got myself set up on flickr so i could take part and was so excited to get comments from both you and cherie (my sew/blog heroes!). yes please, lets do more patterns from the book together. i picked up lots of ideas and tips for the next time i do the pull-over parka. when i first got the book it was my least fave pattern but i’ll definitely make it again now. (but i agree with you about the hood needing some tweeking to be more than decorative!)
Thank you, THANK YOU, Meg! Both for hosting and for the amazing prizes! I feel like the luckiest girl around:)
Congratulations!!
