kcwc fall 2011:day four
October 13th, 2011
I’m running a little bit late this morning (and there is sewing to do!) so just the deets on this one:
- idea: blatantly stolen from oeuf
- pattern: tee for two from patterns by figgy (the pattern is also in their new book)
- fabric: one felted cashmere sweater, the neckline and some scraps of another felted sweater
- skill level: easy peasy
When I was making this sweater a friend of mine (hi amanda!) was asking me about the mitten pockets but slipped and called them mockets. Now the top will always be known as the mocket sweater. I think it’s pretty catchy.
Here are todays pretties from the flickr pool:
Someone commented that all these finished garments are making her look like a very slow sewer. I don’t want anyone to be discouraged this week. So I thought I’d tell her–and all of you–that I have been plugging away at a little coat all week and I am still nowhere near done. No plopping on the couch this evening (unless that is where you sew). Keep at it! Make yourself to sit down in front of your sewing machine and I promise you will have a finished garment by the end of the week.
I adore the first sweater. I would wear that!
Oh so adorable! Beautiful Flickr pics too. I love grey and lavender together!
So adorable!
Mockets!!!
I am so making a mocket shirt. I love it!
I love the mockets!
Love the mitten pockets! awesome. Thanks for showing off my skirt, too! I’ve got a jacket on my list…hope I finish it!
Mocket sweater: SO CUTE.
thanks for including my pierrot! i want to copy both of those skirts, and i love your mockets too. awesome.
The lazy day skirt is such a good idea why did I not think of that?
Okay, I’ve been able to get Tuesday and Wednesday in, but I spent extra time on Tuesday. Holding off on blogging so I can sew instead. Will update with pictures next week. Don’t do flicker so I’ll just post on my blog. Thanks for organizing us all, it’s kept me wanting to sew all week.
The mocket sweater is so awesome! And I must have missed that darling Grandpa sweater – it’s brilliant!
Love the mockets! Great name, too, accidental or otherwise. :-)
i might have to blatantly steal the mitts on sweater idea too. i love it as much as i love the elbow patches on my sweetie.
i have to admit that i am not as prolific a seamstress as might appear during this week posts. what is awesome about this challenge is that it is inspiring me to plug away at those wip and i realize that many of them were so close to being done when i left them for other dreamy ideas.
keep sewing and sharing the ideas, inspiration and links!
The pants are fabulous! But I really couldn’t take my eyes off the rosy pierrot tunic and the denim skirt. Thinking of them in my size, though…
