pillow week: three
November 9th, 2010
You get two for one today. That is, if you are not sick of looking at pillows yet. You probably think I’m crazy for making all these, but I had been thinking about making a bunch of pillows for ages. It’s amazing how much time I can waste just staring at fabric. This week was a nice kick in the pants to just decide already, they are only pillows you know.
To answer a few questions:
- yes, I’m using pillow forms.
- yes, zippers are really easy. I used this zipper tutorial, but erin has a fancy dancy video tutorial that will talk you through each step.
- yes, I’d love a cup of coffee, thank you.

Well I am impressed, I only have one half done so far and I have spent three hours on it so far..I think I must be a bit slow because I am seeing some very cute stuff in the Flickr group for pillow week. I really like the grey one you made and my daughter is loving the plaid. I hope I can post a finished one tonight ; )
Oh my goodness, I had to come back and comment after having checked out the zipper tutorial that you linked. It is great! I had no idea how easy it would be to install a zipper! Every tutorial I have looked at before this one was so much more complicated. I will be using this (I’ve been avoiding zippers for 3 years!). Thanks a bunch!
ooh, ooh i nearly missed pillow week. i love making cushions from upcycled, felted jumpers, old denim jeans etc. i sometimes do the envelope thing but tend to just sew ’em up. wool is quite stain repellent and they are more decorative than working hard and getting dirty hopefully. love your blog, constantly inspiring. i’ll check out that zipper tutorial and the flickr group, maybe put up some of my cushions. jenx
I was visiting the lovely wendy from the textured leaf and found your link….great blog!
Love the grey cushion…fantastic, I think I want to join in on this! Eleesa
dang it! i’m pretty sure i need to see these photos, but the darn things won’t load.
we’ve an art armoire also, and i’m just realizing it’s been a bit mothballed over the summer. The sleeves, methinks, need rolling up…
